I don’t do logos often, but I like doing them. When I was approached to redesign the logo for OTI, the National Information Technology Contest (Olimpiada de Tehnologia Informatiei) here in Romania, I couldn’t pass it up.
I put a few ideas on paper, eventually settling for the idea that, since the contest treats IT, then using 0s and 1s would suit our purposes. OTI is made out of O and I, which sort of look like a 0 and a 1, so I struck the O through to look kinda like a 0. After a few variants written about, I set about recreating it on Illustrator. Took a picture of the notebook with my tablet, changed some settings around, then started to build the logo after what I’ve made. I’ve also explored using colour a bit. I don’t like using colours for logos much, but it turned out ot be what it needed in terms of contrast.
The last 3 is what we went with.
I suppose it turned out alright.
